“Hell at Last!”

To believe in Heaven is to believe in Hell, just as the Bible, especially the New Testament, depicts both of them. Concerning the unrighteous and the righteous, respectively, at The Judgment, Jesus Christ, the loving, merciful Savior, stated: “And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life” (Mat. 25:46). To be consistent, denial of Hell demands denial of Heaven.

The Bible depicts Hell as a place of unspeakably evil environment and of unimaginable and unending torment. Nonetheless, it will ironically doubtless bring great relief to a host of its inhabitants. They will find shelter from many of the things they found so irritating and that they despised and rejected in their earthly lives. One can almost hear them saying upon arrival, “Hell, at last!”

Hell’s occupants will find blissful shelter and relief from:

  • The Bible. This Book has been the object of hatred, we suppose, since Moses wrote the Decalogue. Selfish, greedy, unprincipled human beings do not like the idea of a revelation from the Supreme Being to Whom they are accountable or an objective standard to which they must submit. Worldly scientists and theologians abhor its record of the origin and Originator of all things, why we are here, and our destiny. Even its sweet story of redemption grates on their ears. Bible-haters, who, if permitted, would outlaw and obliterate The Book in their earthly lives, will surely find Hell absolutely delightful—for there will be no Bibles there.
  • Biblical Morals. The moral and cultural meltdown in our nation is the product of men and women who refuse all but self-imposed, subjective restraints, if any, upon their conduct. They have relabeled conduct the Bible calls “unnatural” and “evil” as “normal” and “innocent.” Sin is mentioned only as a subject for crude jokes. Purity of thought and speech are relics of the superstitious past that get in the way of uninhibited. liberated moderns. They should be very happy in Hell, where every impenitent practitioner of murder, assault, theft, rape, fornication, pedophilia, sodomy, lesbianism, bestiality, and incest, along with all liars, will be their neighbors forever (Gal. 5:19–21; Rev. 21:8). They will at last be free from the Godly, decent behavior the Bible nurtures—demands.
  • Bible Preachers. According Jesus, Hell will host a very large number of preachers (Mat. 7:21–23), but not those who lived and preached the Bible faithfully. The Hell-dwellers will never have to tolerate another impassioned plea for their obedience to the saving Gospel. Never again will they be challenged with Repent and be baptized unto the remission of your sins (Acts 2:38) or Repent or perish (Luke 13:3)! The Gospel story of love, grace, faith, and obedience will never bother them again—forever.
