The following is a prime example:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me”(John 14:6). A few decades ago in the US, only a small minority of pulpiteers and theologians would have denied (openly, at least) the Savior’s words in the foregoing statement. Theologians then began drinking at the spring of postmodern philosophy, leading them to deny the validity of objective truth claims. Since the Bible is a book of truth claims about the existence of God, creation, history, inspiration, miracles, the identity of the Son of God, and many others, the Postmodernist rendered it little more than a religious trinket, a symbol that represents no substance. Every man is allowed the luxury of counting his own subjective opinions to be “truth,” regardless of innumerable contradictory positions held by others. Postmodernism eradicates the concept of truth as men have rightly recognized it for all time.Postmodernism’s approach to religion not only allows every professed believer in the Christ to have his own “truth,” but consistently applied, allows unbelievers (Buddhists, Confucianists, Hindus, Muslims, Humanists, et al.) to be part of the “truth fraternity” as well. The “emerging church” movement of more recent vintage (which is still “emerging”), was launched by some so-called “evangelicals.” It openly touts what can only be called “neo-universalism” and stands in radical contradiction to Jesus’ claim that access to the Father is exclusively through Himself. Such thought “progression” is inescapable once one abandons the Biblical (and rational) concept of objective truth. All who profess such tolerance as to claim salvation through Mohammed, Buddha, or any other besides Jesus of Nazareth have taken their penknives to Jesus’ truth claim about Himself. They are infidels.

“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). Ironically, men take their penknives to this passage that clearly warns not to do so. Taking a penknife to Jesus’ words equals taking a penknife to Jesus. His words will judge us all, including those who have taken their penknives to them.

[Note: I wrote this article for and it appeared in the Denton Record-Chronicle, Denton, TX, December 10, 2010].

Attribution: From thescripturecache.com; Dub McClish, owner and administrator.

Views: 0[Note: This MS is available in larger font on our Brief Articles 1 page.] After the fashion of Jehoiakim, the ungodly sixth-century BC king of Judah, many today do figuratively the same thing he did literally—take their “penknives” to portions of the Bible…

Continue Reading… On Penknives and the Bible—No. 3

[18,42,226

post-10685","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-false-teachersdoctrine","category-obedience","category-universalism","wpcat-18-id","wpcat-42-id","wpcat-226-id
["GET
