Either He means what He says in His Word, or He doesn\u2019t. If He doesn\u2019t, the Bible is merely advice that we may follow or ignore with impunity. However, if He means what He says, our eternal destiny depends upon giving His Word \u201cthe more earnest heed\u201d (Heb. 2:1).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">While God is the God of grace and mercy (Tit. 2:11\u20133:7), He no less expects His creation to respect and obey His will, to which each one will be called to account (2 Cor. 5:10). Men have no right to presume upon God\u2019s grace by thinking He will \u201cunderstand\u201d our blatant failures to obey such edicts as to love others as ourselves (Mat. 22:39), treat others as we desire to be treated (7:12), help the helpless (Gal. 6: 10), and to fulfill many other duties toward our fellow men. While many seem to make this application in matters relating to social obligations, these same folk often go no further (if they even go that far). The attitude of most (including many religious leaders) toward the Bible seems to be that we should honor its social precepts, but its \u201creligious\u201d doctrines are quite elastic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">In other words, although God has given clear instructions and specified the things that please Him in \u201creligious\u201d doctrine (as well as in human relationships), He will excuse our ignoring His \u201creligious\u201d dictates. Men thus dare to turn God\u2019s grace into a pretext to fulfill their own wills and desires in \u201creligious\u201d matters. With these premises before us, what are some of the things in religion God does not\/will not at all \u201cunderstand\u201d (i.e., excuse)?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">The creation of thousands of religious bodies professing to follow\/belong to Jesus (He envisioned and established only one church [Mat. 16:18; Eph. 1:22\u201323; 4:4]; et al.).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">The creation of humanly originated \u201cgospels,\u201d whether written or unwritten, that perpetuate religious division (there is only one true Gospel\/one faith\u2014the New Testament [Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 15:1\u2013 4; Gal. 1:6\u20139;Eph. 4:5; et al.]).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">The many inventions of men in \u201cworship,\u201d more often apparently designed for their entertainment and pleasure rather than for the praise of God and His Son (worship <strong>must <\/strong>be \u201cin spirit and truth\u201d and as authorized by Christ [John 4:23\u201324; Col. 3:17]).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">The many \u201cplans of salvation\u201d that alter what the Scriptures teach men must do to be saved and become a Christian (believe in and confess Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, repent and be baptized to be saved [Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37\u201338; et al.]).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">The denial that \u201ctruth\u201d exists, or if it does, we can never be sure we know it (Jesus said God\u2019s Word is Truth and we can\u2014and must\u2014know it to enjoy the freedom that spiritual Truth brings [John 8:31\u201332; 17:17;]).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">God\u2019s saving grace is for those who obey Him\u2014not for those who suppose He will \u201cunderstand\u201d if we don\u2019t\u00a0 (John 12:48; Heb. 5:9).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">[<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Note: <\/strong>I wrote this article for and it was published in the <em>Denton Record-Chronicle, <\/em>Denton, TX, June 12, 2015.]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Attribution:<\/strong> From <em>www.thescripturecache.com<\/em>; Dub McClish, proprietor, curator, and administrator.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Views: 2[Note: This MS is available in larger font on our Brief Articles 3 page.
