His <strong>ideal <\/strong>will and His <strong>conditional <\/strong>will are not the same, however. He created us with free will, and our free will stands between these two. Mohammed gains converts by force. Jesus employs persuasive love\u2014never compulsion: \u201cCome unto me, &#8230;and I will give you rest\u201d (Mat. 11:28).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">The end of God\u2019s grace is man\u2019s eternal salvation, but only \u201cfew\u201d will be saved at last because only few will so <strong>choose<\/strong>(Mat 7:13\u201314). We therefore correctly conclude that God\u2019s plan of grace is conditional, thereby <strong>excluding <\/strong>certain ones. Although millions believe the doctrine of \u201cirresistible grace,\u201d it is fatally false. Since Eve in Eden, all have had the power of choice when confronted with God\u2019s will. Paul begged the Corinthians to \u201creceive not the grace of God in vain\u201d (2 Cor. 6:1). Those once in the grace of God can fall therefrom (Gal. 5:4). The following passages summarize the bases of exclusion from God\u2019s saving grace:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>John 3:5: \u201c<\/strong>Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he can-not enter into the kingdom of God!\u201d Jesus excludes from God\u2019s grace all who are not born of water and the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>John 3:16: \u201c<\/strong>For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.\u201d Jesus excludes all unbelievers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Luke 13:3: <\/strong>\u201cI tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish.\u201d Jesus excludes all who re-fuse to repent of their sins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Mat. 10:33: <\/strong>\u201cBut whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.\u201d Jesus excludes all who do not confess their faith in Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Mark 16:16: <\/strong>\u201cHe that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned.\u201d Jesus excludes all who are not baptized in order to be saved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Luke 9:23: \u201c<\/strong>If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.\u201d Jesus excludes all who will not live for Him daily.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">God\u2019s grace is conditional, depending upon the decisions we make, whether to obey or disobey Him (Mat. 7:21\u201323).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">[<strong>Note:<\/strong> I wrote this article for and it was published in <em>The Lighthouse, <\/em>weekly bulletin of Northpoint Church of Christ, Denton, TX, November 1, 2015, of which I was editor.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Attribution:<\/strong>\u00a0 From <em>thescripturecache.com<\/em>; Dub McClish, owner and administrator.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Views: 0\u00a0[Note:\u00a0 This MS is available in larger font on our Brief Articles 1\u00a0 page.] While God wills that all men be saved (1 Tim. 2:4), this is the statement of his ideal will.
