It has almost become a sin to mention sin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">It has not always been so. Our nation, rooted in Biblical concepts and terms and continuing in such for almost two centuries, long had a moral sense of righteousness and therefore of sin. It is not so now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">What has caused such a casting off of the concept of sin? Almost a century ago Humanistic psychologists, sociologists, and educators decided guilt is a harmful emotion, so <em>sin<\/em>, the cause of guilt, became a dirty word. With the elimination of sin and guilt has come the corresponding elimination of shame. By the 1960s, these ideas had so taken hold that they produced the \u201csexual revolution.\u201d \u201cThe rest is history,\u201d as the saying goes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">The means of mitigating the idea of sin in the public psyche was ingenious: Label sinful acts by new names and\/or call them \u201cdiseases\u201d or \u201cdisorders.\u201d Related to this strategy has been the advent of \u201cpolitical correctness\u201d (PC), itself a euphemism for censorship and the discourager of honesty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Consider some examples of PC labels of sin:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Alternative lifestyle: <\/strong>The sin of homosexual behavior or sodomy, named after the city of Sodom, notorious for this ungodly and unnatural behavior and for which God destroyed it and surrounding cities (Gen. 19:1\u201325). Alternative to what? \u2014to normalcy and Biblical morality (1 Cor. 6:9\u201311).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Gays: <\/strong>Misnomer for those who practice the sin of sodomy. The Bible calls them \u201csodomites\u201d (1 Kin. 14:24; et al.), \u201ceffeminate,\u201d and \u201cabusers of themselves with<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0men\u201d (1 Cor. 6:9; 1 Tim. 1:10; cf. Rom. 1:26\u201328). There is nothing \u201cgay\u201d about\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">this or any other wickedness.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Same-sex unions: <\/strong>The sinful (not to mention absurd) idea of homosexual<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u201cmarriages\u201d (or as one describes it, \u201cstate-sanctioned sodomy\u201d). Such wickedness sullies the Biblical, physical, and societal normalcy of marriage between a man and woman and the creation of a family unit for the generation and rearing of children (Eph. 6:1\u20134).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><strong>Cohabitation: <\/strong>The sin of a man and woman living together <strong>as <\/strong>husband and wife without <strong>becoming <\/strong>husband and wife\u2014 \u201cshacking up\u201d in common parlance. The Bible calls it \u201cfornication\u201d which will bar one from Heaven (1 Cor. 6:9\u201311). With the glorification of this sin, illegitimacy rates have predictably soared.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><em>Sexually active <\/em>and <em>safe sex <\/em>belong in the same list.
