Thank you for visiting The Scripturecache. At the age of 16 (1954) I made my first feeble attempt at preaching a Gospel sermon. In the subsequent decades of preaching the Gospel, I have had the opportunity to write many hundreds of articles and manuscripts. Lavonne, my late beloved wife of 56+ years (she passed to her reward January 5, 2013) and Andy, our youngest son, are also authors of several articles and MSS. Our combined efforts have produced several thousand pages of treatises on the Bible and Bible-related subjects—and Andy and I continue to write.
I delight in announcing that on July 20, 2019, Diane Tharp, a beautiful and godly lady, honored me by becoming my wife. She lost her beloved husband, Floyd, some 12 years ago. She and I rejoice that in God’s providence we found in each other the companion with whom to complete our journey toward Heaven. Besides being a devoted wife, she is a very able and valuable partner in the Lord’s work. From her career in teaching English she brings impressive skills to our continuing expansion and improvement of The Scripturecache.
Various ones have urged me to make these materials more widely available than they are in the numerous books and dozens of periodicals in which they have been published. This I am pleased to do by means of The Scripturecache. These materials include commentary on assorted passages of Scripture, character and biographical studies of Bible personalities, essays relating to worship and doctrine, and articles on various ethical, practical, and doctrinal issues.
I believe the materials you will find here will increase your Bible knowledge, enrich your spiritual perspective, and draw you nearer to God. From brief articles to much longer manuscripts, you will find here a treasury (i.e., cache) of Bible-related materials for the taking.
Our Brief Articles page holds a collection of articles of 1–3 pages in length, many of which I have written for various church bulletins I have edited since 1960. Hundreds of church bulletin editors throughout the land have republished (and are still republishing) them. I also wrote a few hundred of these shorter articles for newspaper publication.
Our Longer Articles page includes treatises of 4–7 pages in length, most of which were originally published in various religious periodicals, including The Gospel Journal, of which I served as founding editor for 5-1/2 years. Lavonne has several articles on this page.
Our Manuscripts page contains treatises ranging in length from 8–38 pages, most of which Lavonne, Andy, or I wrote on assignment for various lecture programs and which have been published as chapters in 200+ books produced by said programs.
Our New Uploads page is a depository of files of various lengths not available Online until recently. Check this page frequently for new uploads.
Our Sermons page contains video recordings of sermons by Andy and me, the number of which, Lord willing, will grow with time.
Our Espanol page is a growing collection of articles and MSS to accommodate our Spanish-speaking visitors.
Immediately under our masthead you will find some navigation tools in the left-hand Sidebar. Entering a subject in the Search tool will produce a list of archived articles/MSS that contain the word you entered. One click on any title will produce the article or MS. The Categories tool provides you with a long drop-down list of subjects from which to select. Selecting a subject will produce a list of archived treatises on that subject. The Articles to PDF tool allows you to enter an email address and instantly send the article/MS you are reading (in PDF) to the address you entered. The Pages list will let you move to any page of The Scripturecache instantly with one click (as will the list across the top of the page immediately beneath the masthead). The E-Sword tool will help you in your Bible Study.
The right-hand Sidebar includes video recordings of material produced not only by ourselves, but by others as well. The Lectureships section contains a collection of Bible lectureships that I highly recommend, which collection will grow with time. You will find here video recordings of numerous sermons by outstanding Gospel preachers on various vital Bible themes. The Debates section contains video recordings of debates on a variety of subjects. We will also be expanding this section periodically. The Archives section provides a list of our uploaded articles/MSS that are searchable by word and/or category, with the month they were uploaded. We are also constantly expanding this section, eventually to include all of our uploaded articles and MSS. The Counter tool allows you to see the amount of “traffic” The Scripturecache has attracted and the current status of the traffic.
In all that the three of us have written, we have written from the perspective of absolute faith in the statement of the apostle Paul:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16, KJV).
We have never found any evidence to persuade us otherwise than that the Bible is what it claims to be—the inspired Word of God throughout, including the very words in which the Holy Spirit revealed it to its original writers (1 Cor. 2:10, 13; 2 Pet. 1:20–21; et al.). We believe that the Bible sits in judgment of men, and we tremble at the eternal jeopardy of mere human beings who dare to assume the role of its judges and critics.
The materials on The Scripturecache are non-sectarian and non-denominational—they simply seek to get to the heart of the meaning (and application) of the Scriptures. I encourage you to download, copy, and distribute these documents freely (including using them for study guides or supplemental materials in Bible classes). However, they are copyrighted, so I must insist that you pass them on to others at no charge, even as you have received them. Also, as basic integrity demands, please give proper attribution of these materials when you reproduce them for and/or distribute them to others.
If the things we have written (and the materials by others we have posted) help even one person to a better understanding of the Sacred Text and to a closer relationship with its Divine Author, we will be amply rewarded for the years of work represented in production and publication of them. If you find The Scripturecache helpful, please recommend it to others. May God bless you in your study of His Word.
Yours in the Cause of Truth and righteousness,
