Ominous Forces and Unfair Advantages

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram once reported that WFAA-TV (Channel 8, Dallas) had canceled the James Robison telecast. The reason? Robison preached on homosexuality and pointed out that the Bible calls it a sin. Now I don’t agree with Robison on several of his doctrinal slants, nor have I ever seen his program. However, there is something ominous in this attempt to silence the plain teaching of the Bible.

This is but one more in a long chain of events that amply demonstrates the degree of moral and spiritual decadence into which our nation has fallen. The damnable philosophies of humanism, atheism, materialism, and egotism have propelled our people to the top of an immense peak called “do your own thing,” and have turned us loose with no brakes. The inevitable wreckage of body and spirit is daily increasing.

It hasn’t been many years since Bible reading and prayer were removed from the public schools, the only exposure to God’s Word that many children had. At about this same time the entertainment and publishing industries began to get increasingly explicit and risqué; now gutter language and acres of exposed flesh in immoral settings are the order of the day. Sadly, our people are laughing instead of blushing at these abominations.

Then came “Women’s Lib,” which seeks to throw all men and women into a giant mixing bowl and pour out a unisex monster. If they succeed with their constitutional amendment, we will have no legal grounds for rejecting female preachers or elders in the Lord’s church.

That such ominous forces are abroad is reason enough for alarm. It is reason for increased  concern that these sinister forces all operate with unfair advantage. While Bible teaching is forbidden in the public schools, atheistic doctrines are protected, and a major portion of textbook and curriculum programs comes from the poison fountain of secular humanism. The pornography peddlers have more rights under law than do decent people who want to live in a decent environment. The Women’s Libbers couldn’t browbeat enough states to ratify their sacred ERA in seven years, so Congress graciously gave them an unprecedented extension of three years plus. The homosexuals are on talk and game shows all over the country promoting their indecencies and often getting paid for it, but when a man preaches what the Bible teaches against it on TV time he has paid for, he is taken off the air on grounds of the “fairness doctrine!” Without doubt, ominous forces now have unfair advantages. The civil rights of Bible believers are fast eroding.
